Sir Arthur C. Clarke CBE (16 December 1917 – 19 March 2008)

Sir Arthur's last visit to the UK in 1999 for the showing of the new print of 2001 : A Space Odyssey.
The Astronomical Society of Haringey was very proud to have Sir Arthur as its Patron since its creation way back in 1971 and we were very sad to learn of Arthur’s passing on 18th March.

Although in more recent years he was unable to easily travel, in earlier times whenever he was in the country, he tried to come along to as many meetings as possible, and to the large ‘Space Age Exhibitions’ the Society organised.

The Society sends its sincere condolences to his family in this country and to his ‘extended family’ in Sri Lanka.
